Brisbane Markets® Produce Report – 25 September 2026
Nothing says spring is here better than a basket full of delicious fresh fruit and vegetables from your local independent fruit and vegetable store. With an abundance of locally grown Queensland produce available, you local A better choice! store is packed with quality, fresh produce sourced through the Brisbane Markets ready for customers to enjoy.
Our pick of the week is Broccoli from the Lockyer Valley, which is in abundance right now, and the quality is amazing. Broccoli is a nutrient-dense superfood packed with vitamins and minerals that supports overall wellbeing. It is high in fibre to support digestion, good gut and heart health as well as full of vitamin C and K to support immunity, skin health and bones. A good Broccoli should have tight florets and thick stems, and be a deep dark green colour. Whilst watching the AFL grand final this weekend, why not try these Air-fried Broccoli and Corn cheese balls as a healthy snack during the game.
Also from the Lockyer Valley and parts of Victoria, the volume and quality of Red Cabbage are excellent right now, which is perfect for those springtime BBQs. Add crunch and flavour to salads and slaws with its earthy and peppery taste, while its vibrant colour will attract any hungry guest wanting to satisfy their appetite. Red Cabbage can be enjoyed either raw or cooked; just be sure you have a good one with tight, crisp leaves and a head that feels unusually heavy for its size.
Truss Tomatoes are clusters of ripe tomatoes still attached to their natural vine, which helps extend shelf life and enhance flavour as they continue to ripen. Right now, Truss Tomatoes from Bowen and Bundaberg will have you salivating with their sweet juiciness and fresh taste. Perfect for anything, from salad to pasta, Truss Tomatoes are good value and excellent quality now.
Queensland and Northern Territory Mangoes continue to fill the Markets with their captivating aroma and delicious taste. As we progress further into Mango season, we can expect the supply and quality of these customer favourites to be at their best. If you have an unripe Mango, keep it at room temperature out of direct sunlight until it softens and sweetens. If the Mango is ripe, move it into the refrigerator, where it should last for five to seven days.
Sweet and tangy Limes from North Queensland are rolling into the Brisbane Markets. Citrus fruits are an enjoyable addition to many dishes and drinks, but Lime adds a unique flavour that enhances a dish like no other. Want to see what we mean! Try this Grilled Pacific Prawns with Lime Ginger Marinade and you will agree.
