FreshSpecs which identify the general appearance criteria; major defects; minor defects; and consignment criteria, was introduced by Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) in response to the need for produce specifications to support Wholesalers when the original Hort Code was introduced. The Government has codified FreshSpecs as the default produce specification in the new Code.
Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) supports the use of uniform product standards for fresh produce and recommends that Wholesaler Members support FreshSpecs as the industry standard for class-one (or equivalent) produce.
FMA lists produce specifications that identify the general appearance criteria, major defects, minor defects, and consignment criteria referenced in the traders’ Terms of Trade or Horticulture Produce Agreements. You can learn more about these specifications here
