Alex’s recalls fond memories of her first job at the Brisbane Markets®, just over thirteen years ago, working through her school holidays doing administration work for some of the wholesalers.
“I worked for several wholesalers and also remember wearing a strawberry suit as the Brisbane Markets® strawberry mascot,” said Alex.
When she finished school, Alex decided to take a gap year and took on a full-time role.
“It’s the longest gap year ever. I ended up loving it so much that I made it my career.”
Through her time working at the Brisbane Markets®, Alex has had a variety of roles and learnt various skills including administration, cashier, pallet control, Quality Assurance and accounts.
“I love the small business feel. It’s not a formal or corporate job, but its fast paced, busy, and you have the opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility.”
“I have some friends who have worked elsewhere and specialised in their field. They end up doing the same thing every day. Here, your job is so varied, and you learn a lot.”
