Brisbane Produce Report – 22 March 2024

With a change in weather comes a change in seasonal produce and new recipe opportunities. A variety of new season produce has arrived at the Brisbane Markets and is appearing on the shelves of your local fruit and veg shop! Discover what’s in season, what’s delicious, and what offers good value for your shopping this week.

Our pick of the week is Iceberg Lettuce, coming in from Stanthorpe and Gatton at great value this week. This leafy vegetable is known for its crisp texture and mild flavour and is the perfect base for your weeknight salad.

Zucchini is also in good supply from across Queensland and Victoria. Zucchini is fresh and versatile, perfect for grilling, sautéing, or adding to salads.

Baby Broccoli from Victoria is well priced, making it a delightful addition to stir-fries or as a side dish.

The price of Victorian grown Sweet Corn has come back down. Sweet and juicy, ideal for boiling, grilling, or adding to salads and salsas. Try this Roasted Corn with Smoked Chilli Mayo.

Sheppard Avocados from North Queensland are creamy, delicious and great eating this week! Perfect for making guacamole or adding to salads.

Rockmelon prices have come back down thanks to a good supply coming from North Queensland. Sweet and refreshing, Rockmelon is great for snacking or adding to fruit salads.

Also in season, Persimmon is in great supply from South East Queensland. If you haven’t tried them before, Persimmons are sweet and flavoursome, perfect for eating fresh or adding to desserts. Try your hand at making this Persimmon Jam.

North Queensland citrus is growing well at the moment, with Limes, Lemons, and Grapefruit all abundant and of great value! These citrus treats are juicy, tangy, and great for adding flavour to drinks or dishes.

With the weather cooling, we are seeing new season Apples like Granny Smith and Red Delicious coming out of Stanthorpe and Victoria. Crisp and juicy, perfect for snacking or baking, and will go wonderfully in this Apple, Pear and Rhubarb Crumble.
