Brismark is widely recognised and respected within the industry for its Credit Service, which was established in 1973. The Credit Service contributes to the stable and orderly marketing of produce through the Brisbane Markets, and therefore to the success of those associated with the Brisbane Markets.

The Brismark Credit Service is a clearing house for wholesalers, buyers and other related businesses operating in the Brisbane Produce Market.  

The operations of the Brismark Credit Service benefit all sections of the fruit and vegetable industry. The security that it provides to member wholesalers indirectly protects the growers who supply the Brisbane Markets. Its operation provides a discipline that contributes to the success of independent greengrocers. The cost savings and services it provides are shared with buyers. It truly serves the whole industry. 


How it works

Using the Brismark Credit Service is easy. All Credit Service users are given a unique buying or selling code to identify them at the time of any transaction inside the Market.

Following each day's trade invoices are sent to the Credit Service for sorting and collection. At the end of each week buyer's statements are sent to the Credit Service and the information is consolidated onto a single billing statement for each buyer. Credit Service staff follow up buyers to ensure that payments are received on time. The payments received from buyers are subsequently distributed to the relevant wholesalers.

As an approved Credit Service buyer, you can simplify the way you do business in the Market, because there is:

  • No more rushing from wholesaler to wholesaler to pick up your daily invoices and weekly statements - you can make more productive use of your time.
  • No more juggling weekly statements and accounts from multiple businesses.
  • No need to carry and pay cash or use numerous cheques saving on bank fees and government charges.
  • Assistance in managing your business through the receipt of a Payment Summary Report detailing amounts paid through the Credit Service over the entire financial year.

Using the Brismark Credit Service is easy, when you come to the Markets to buy you simply:

  • Select your product
  • Load your vehicle
  • Collect the invoicesfrom your previous day's purchases from the Brismark Credit Service Office (or access these details online), and
  • Return to your business

Each week, the Credit Service produces one consolidated statement that summarises all of your purchases from Market Wholesalers. You can collect this statement when you visit the Brismark Credit Service Office to gather your invoices, it can be posted to you, or you can access it online.

You then make one payment to Brismark every Wednesday, based on either of the two convenient credit cycles available.

Benefits vs Cost

Buyers using the Credit Service pay a small weekly fee, but they agree that the benefits outweigh the cost.

Some of the added benefits are free and others are charged at special rates for Credit Service buyers.

You will save time, money and paperwork.  


Credit Service Online

Credit Service buyers can arrange to access their credit service information over the Internet. Buyers are able to view and print their invoices on the day of purchase.  If they find invoicing errors or have quality claims they can notify the wholesaler from an easy to use webpage, providing seamless communication and a full audit trail.  Consolidated Credit Service statements acan be viewed, accounts can be reconciled and payments made from the home or office computer meaning Online is efficient, convenient and safe. Online buyers also have the ability to save a copy of their information on their own computer, as a form of electronic archiving if they so wish (no losing paper invoices).
